Procedure
An initial conversation is held to discuss the general expectations of the portrait (practical and aesthetic). Once a commitment to the portrait is made, a meeting is scheduled to find the suitable composition, dress, etc. This includes a sitting and a photo shoot (approximately one hour). When the decision is made to proceed with the composition (usually confirmed by photographs), a schedule of sittings is determined, if applicable.
The portrait is painted either from sittings, photograph(s), or a combination (as determined by client and/or artist preference, time consideration, distance factor, and availability of subject).
Upon completion, the portrait is delivered personally or by mail (if long distance). Upon receipt and acceptance of the painting, the final payment for the portrait is due
All portraits are done in a traditional 3/4 to life size format.
Completion of a portrait may take anywhere from 1 to 3 months for a single subject, depending on size. Before the actual portrait is shipped to the client, a photograph of the completed portrait will be sent to the client for approval.
Fees
My fees vary according to size, number of people, and complexity of the background in the portrait. The following prices are for single portraits. To add an additional figure, the price will increase 50%.
All sizes are approximate and can be adjusted (taking into consideration hanging site of the portrait, compositional needs, etc.).
A deposit of 30% of the total is required before the portrait is started. The remainder is due upon acceptance of the completed portrait. |
